This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of daily department operations at the assigned ONE HEALTH Labs in accordance with standards of practice, organizational policies/standards, procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Work includes coordinating, scheduling, overseeing and assisting professional and ancillary staff in performing all of their required activities.

Duties:

  • Responsibility for meeting financial objectives in labor, revenue and expenses;
  • Designing and implementing both performance improvement and quality initiative;
  • Evaluating and ensuring the lab department effectiveness in meeting all regulatory and clinical/service expectations.
  • Regulatory Compliance, Performance / Quality Improvement, Procedures , Development/Implementation, Short and Long Term Planning, Budget Administration, Staff management and Development, Operations
  • Strong management skills to develop and build employees to have them accept more delegation of skills
  • Provide Scientific Oversight of Lab
  • Provides medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products, and services by establishing specimen preparation procedures; developing and implementing analytical procedures; evaluating laboratory information; consulting with Physicians and Providers; reporting results according to protocols mandated by ONE HEALTH and public health department.
  • Maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • Maintains medical laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustment.
  • Maintains quality results by participating in ONE HEALTH quality assurance program; consulting with Physicians and Providers; performing proficiency surveys; reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs; making adjustments in policy and procedures; generating reports; maintaining records.
  • Maintains medical laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems; recommending improvements; establishing priorities; testing; writing user manuals; training employees; maintaining security and confidentiality.
  • Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress.
  • Maintains medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains medical laboratory staff results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Complies with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements for self and staff, by providing in-service programs; monitoring outcomes.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ability to manage staff issues, coaching and counseling and encouragement for success of the employees with the help of Human Resources.

Laboratory Accessioning Associate (Part-Time and Full-Time)

OneHealth Labs DFW is a complete turnkey clinical, toxicology and genetics laboratory located in Irving Texas. To facilitate our growth, we are searching for highly motivated, skilled, and organized people to join our time. OneHealth is currently seeking an in-house accessioning associate to assist with various testing specimens as they are received at the laboratory.

JOB SPECIFICATION: Laboratory Accessioning Associate

JOB DUTIES

  • Data entry and accessioning / organization of patient demographics, insurance, and billing information.
  • Coordination with our 3rd party billing and collections company to reconcile patient accounts.
  • Maintain filing system for both open and finalized requisition orders
  • Corresponding with OneHealth accounts and providers to collect additional patient information as necessary.
  • Preparation and shipment of various medical supplies to OneHealth accounts and providers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read and understand EOBs/ERAs
  • Strong understanding of LCDs, CPT codes, and corresponding ICD10 codes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Word and Excel
  • A strong customer service orientation and skills are essential for communicating with outside parties
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills requiring good data gathering and analysis skills using reports, spreadsheets, web-based applications, and other software tools
  • The ability to maintain the confidence of sensitive information is essential
  • Experience working in a medical, laboratory, or medical related field, a plus.
